Modi govt mulls export cap on sugar exports amid surge in global demand - report

India is likely to cap its sugar exports for the second straight year starting October, Reuters reported. India could impose an export ceiling at 6 to 7 mil. tonnes on sugar in the upcoming season. If this happens, global importers would get one-third less sugar from Indian markets. This comes at a time when global sugar prices are at a five-and-a-half year high.
