'Not essential to Islam': Karnataka Hijab ban gets High Court approval

The Karnataka High Court ruled that wearing a hijab is not an essential practice in Islam. The verdict comes amid a massive row which began over wearing of hijabs in educational institutions. The court on Tuesday said that ‘the prescription of school uniforms is a reasonable restriction’. The court said the Karnataka government ‘has the power to issue a government order’. The court also said that the Karnataka government order - dated February 5 - is ‘not unconstitutional’. Watch the full video for more.
