Pro-Khalistan slogans were raised by supporters of radical Sikh outfits at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on the 38th anniversary of Operation Bluestar. Many youths held banners and placards with ‘Khalistan Zindabad’ written on them. They wore t-shirts with the picture of slain separatist leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale printed on them. The protests took place despite prohibitory order being imposed about the Sikh Shrine. Meanwhile, Akal Takht chief Giani Harpreet Singh has stirred up a controversy by calling for weapons training for all Sikhs.
