Orban's 'world war' warning sends shockwaves in EU, Ukraine as Zelensky's NATO dreams lay forgotten

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán warns that admitting Ukraine into the European Union would pull every EU member, including Hungary, directly into war with Russia and saddle Europeans with what he calls “enormous” long‑term financial burdens. He rejects further EU funding for Kyiv’s state and military budgets, argues instead for a looser, reversible cooperation deal rather than full membership, and says a Hungarian national consultation will give him the mandate to block Ukraine’s accession and new war financing in Brussels.
