Two weeks after being grounded, U.S Air Force Osprey fleet is back in the air again. 'Hard clutch' engagement safety worry unresolved, with no immediate fix in sight. Hard clutch engagement involves the clutch connecting the rotor gear box to the engine slipping, then catching hard, causing the aircraft to lurch. U.S Air Force Special Operations Command has instructed Osprey pilots to take a two-second pause immediately after taking off to keep the clutch from slipping; instead of going to full power immediately. Training simulators will be loaded up with more scenarios where the hard clutch engagement issue occurs.
