India Post is taking postal connectivity to the skies with the launch of its inaugural drone run for the transmission of Branch Post Office bags in Assam. The initiative is aimed at improving mail connectivity in remote and difficult-to-reach areas, where challenging terrain can often slow down conventional transportation.
The drone operation is being carried out in partnership with Skye Air Mobility and is part of a larger plan to establish a 150-route drone network across Assam and Himachal Pradesh. Of these, 40 routes will operate across Assam, helping strengthen last-mile postal connectivity in the northeastern state.
