President confers Shaurya Chakra to Major Arun K. Pandey, other valiant soldiers

President Ram Nath Kovind conferred 13 Shaurya Chakra awards (six posthumously) to Armed Forces personnel. Shaurya Chakra - the third-highest peacetime gallantry award after the Ashok Chakra & Kirti Chakra. Major Arun Kumar Pandey, a Sharuya Chakra winner, displayed outstanding leadership - neutralized two hardcore terrorists. Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were the Vice President, Prime Minister & the Defence Minister. President also conferred gallantry awards to personnel for displaying extreme devotion in the line of the duty.
