'Prices of crude..': FM on how Ukraine war will hit India's shift away from coal

Nirmala Sitharaman stated India's transition away from coal as a fuel would be hampered by the Ukraine war. FM said 'dependence on coal, and the speed with which India aims to get out of it, will now be challenged'. Coal produces twice as much carbon dioxide per unit of heat energy compared to natural gas. The minister flagged the rise in crude prices & the rise in natural gas prices - a 'transition fuel' for India.
