U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on June 2 that there has been no change in Washington’s policy on Taiwan, pushing back against fresh questions over U.S.-China signaling after Donald Trump’s recent contact with Xi Jinping. Rubio told lawmakers that foreign policy often involves choosing between two imperfect options and stressed that the United States remains the only true global superpower.
