Young fast bowler Ishant Sharma was ruled out of India's first Test against South Africa in March, as Indian selectors grappled with fitness issues following a long and difficult tour of Australia. After the meeting of the national selectors in Bangalore on March 17, Niranjan Shah, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India reported that the young pacer would be considered for the second Test if he recovered in time.
