Amazon forest fires: NASA releases satellite images
As fires continue to rage in the Amazon forest, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration released photographs taken by a satellite. The images showed thick smoke emanating from the fires. Meanwhile, at least six former Brazil environment ministers signed a petition to seek action to control forest fires and preserve the Amazon. The former ministers met the president of the lower house of congress to seek action. The fires have caused global concern with many countries offering help to Brazil to control them.
