Iran has reportedly begun producing missiles with ranges beyond the 2,000-kilometre limit previously associated with its missile programme, according to reports citing Iranian Army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia. Akraminia said the decision followed lessons from the latest war and Iran’s assessment that U.S. forces and military assets were being positioned farther from the country’s coast. Iran already possesses missiles with reported ranges of around 2,000–3,000 kilometres, while further range expansion could potentially bring more distant U.S. military sites and parts of Europe within reach. Reports have also linked Iran to an attempted strike on the U.S. military base at Diego Garcia during the conflict.
