Kim locks down North Korea amid first COVID case; Declares national emergency

North Korea confirmed its first-ever Covid cases and declared a ‘serious emergency’. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has ordered lockdowns across the country. Samples taken from patients with fever in Pyongyang ‘coincided with Omicron BA.2 variant, reported KCNA. Top officials, including Kim, held a crisis politburo meeting to discuss the outbreak.
