Mexican mayor weds crocodile for town’s prosperity

The mayor of a small fishing town in southern Mexico has married a crocodile as part of a local custom that dates back to 1789. The custom is believed to bring good harvest and help fishermen to catch plenty of seafood. The ritual has been practiced by Chontal Maya people since 1789.
