South Pakistan's port city of Karachi continues to be rocked by political and ethnic rivalries and turf wars. However, the federal government is unable to do anything about it. Firing takes place sporadically, triggering panic in the city. On January 13, unidentified gunmen shot dead Wali Khan Babar, a TV journalist and 11 other people in the latest wave of violence. The most serious incident occurred in Orangi Town when armed men attacked a bus, in which six people, including a seven-year-old girl and a woman, were killed. The people are living in constant fear.
