A 15-year-old suspect is in custody after a shooting on Detroit’s east side late Friday night, August 21, left one woman dead and another in critical condition. The shooting took place around 11:15 p.m. outside a liquor store in the 15500 block of East Warren Avenue in the Morningside neighborhood, according to Fox 2 Detroit.

The woman who died was identified as 57-year-old Faith Williams, and the other woman who was shot was her niece, according to The Metro Detroit News. They were shot while entering a liquor store on Detroit’s east side.
What we know about the shooting and the suspect
A disturbing video of the shooting has gone viral on social media, showing the shirtless suspect opening fire. The motive is unclear.

According to police, the suspect arrived at the scene and fled on foot. The suspect was initially considered armed and dangerous, with authorities issuing a public safety notice asking residents to be on the lookout. The shooting remains under investigation.
Sources told The Metro Detroit News that the attack was random . People who knew the shooter claimed that he has not been the same since he recently lost his mother.
Williams’ loved ones remembered her on social media. “I will miss everything about Faith Williams. Rest peacefully beautiful soul,” Aiesha Russ wrote on Facebook.
“This is a Sad am so sorry this Happen to you Faith Williams am going to miss all your messages you use to send me the world is wicked,” wrote Lakeithia DramaFree Hedgespeth.
Anyone with any information about the shooting has been urged to contact the Detroit Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 313-596-5260. One can also submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP or through DetroitRewards.TV.
A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that helps move the investigation forward. Tipsters are required to reference case No. 2608210409 when submitting information.
