Holbrooke, who has not been to India since July, is scheduled to visit India this month.

At a news briefing before the Pakistan visit of Clinton, Holbrooke has said that he would be visiting both Afghanistan and India soon.

However, Holbrooke, who accompanied Clinton on her Pakistan leg of her current visit, has now returned to the US.

"Ambassador Holbrooke's (India) travel plans are still in the works. We have no announcements to make at this time," the department said in response to a question.
