The head of the US Central Command, General Tommy Franks, arrived in Kuwait on Monday where he will visit US troops stationed in the northern desert, the US embassy said.
Franks is only expected to spend a few hours in the emirate, which is serving as the main launchpad for the US-led invasion of Iraq.
Franks also visited Kuwait earlier this month as part of a regional tour when he met with senior Kuwaiti officials and US military commanders some three days before the war on Iraq was launched.
Franks said Sunday the war in Iraq was running to plan and that coalition troops were within 95 kilometres of Baghdad and were steadily dismantling the regime of President Saddam Hussein.
