U.P. registers 2K organ donors in 5 months

Ray of hope amid dengue surge: Docs say more tests will prevent deaths

Hospitals add more beds to wards as dengue rages in Lucknow

At Lok Bandhu Raj Narayan Hospital here, the administration has had to add beds to dengue wards to make space for the number of patients that they are getting. “We have extended the dengue ward by adding 10 more beds, given that our 12-bed ward was proving inadequate for the patients’ volume,” said Lok Bandhu Hospital director Dr. Suresh Kaushal.

Fresh KGMU appointments enable restarting of renal transplant unit

After a two-year pause on new appointments of professors and doctors at KGMU, the National Medical Commission gave the go-ahead for new recruitments at the teaching hospital. On this new development, 77 appointment letters were sent out, of which around 45-50 have already joined and commenced work.According to hospital authorities, the new appointments will jack up the daily number of surgeries in the hospital by almost 60% and give a new beginning to the renal transplant unit

Victims of forced labour recall trauma of captivity

Twenty-nine-year-old Devendra Kumar spent 11 months working in a textile factory in Coimbatore, at the age of 14 years. He was among 30 children from Chandauli who were carted off one fine morning, with the promise of earning daily wages. Rather than being paid, the children were beaten for indiscipline and neglected when they got sick. It was a rescue operation in Coimbatore that led to the discovery of the textile factory where Kumar worked.
