In view of students lack of proficiency in English, Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University, Jabalpur has allowed medicals students to use mixture of English and Hindi in their exam.

Releasing an order in this regard on Saturday, the university vice chancellor Dr RS Sharma said, “Language won’t be the criterion for marking the answer sheets. The examiner will give marks for scientifically right answer. The students can write the exam in whatever language they want, but the technical words should be in English.”

Sharma said the step was taken to help Hindi medium students and give importance to Rashtra Bhasha Hindi.

Earlier, the only engineering university in Madhya Pradesh - Rajeev Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidhyalaya- had announced that engineering students could use both Hindi and English in their exam.

However, state government’s ambitious project of introducing graduate engineering and medical course in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi University failed due to lack of takers.
