Trolls ask if Anushka Sharma has joined the Indian cricket team after BCCI’s photo goes viral
Trolls targeted Anushka Sharma once again for getting a picture clicked with the Indian Cricket Team at the High Commission of India in London.bollywood Updated: Aug 09, 2018 12:02 IST
Actor Anushka Sharma faced online criticism for being included in a photo of the Indian cricket team at the High Commission of India in London. The picture was shared by the official BCCI Twitter handle on Wednesday and includes no other wives or girlfriends.
Anushka is the only relative present in the picture - she is married to captain Virat Kohli - and can be seen standing in the middle of the group, with the rest of the team on either side of her. This comes after the BCCI reportedly advised players to not be distracted by wives and girlfriends for at least three test matches during the ongoing England tour. The BCCI has reportedly told players that their spouses and girlfriends would only be allowed to stay with them for two weeks during tours exceeding 45 days.
However, the BCCI has said that no official protocol was broken as the Indian High Commission had invited all the players along with their family. “This is the norm wherever the team travels. The High Commission invites the players with their relatives and it is eventually the decision of the individuals. Even in London the players were invited along with their partners. There has been no breach of any protocol,” a source in the BCCI told Hindustan Times on conditions of anonymity.
The tweet has attracted harsh criticism from fans. “Vice captain is in last row and First Lady of Indian cricket is in front row. These people giving lecture online few days back,” one person wrote. “So I guess all other members are bachelors,” another person wrote, alluding to the absence of any other player’s partner.

C'mon Virat...We know she's your wife. She is your wife but not your luggage. Stop carrying her everywhere you go. https://t.co/8BuIKalEU9
Anushka has been a constant presence by her husband’s side during the England tour, with paparazzi snapping pictures of the couple on streets and supermarkets. She has also been spotted cheering Virat on from the stands during matches. The couple was married at a secret ceremony in Italy late last year.
They were recently involved in another controversy when they shared a photo of a man littering on the streets of Mumbai. In a video uploaded by Virat on social media, Anushka can be seen chastising the man, who later accused the couple of abusing their power.
