Anyone can become a star in Bollywood: Kay Kay
Kay Kay Menon says people who have their “father’s money” and a few good “marketing strategies” make it big in B-Town.
Not many people know that besides having a passion for acting, Kay Kay Menon also takes keen interest in sports. In fact, he considers “sports to be far above films”. “I think sportspersons are much greater than film stars. There’s no rocket science in making a star out of someone here (in Bollywood). Anyone can become a star. All you need is your father’s money, and a few good marketing strategies. But a sportsperson has to perform, and only then can he or she becomes a star,” adds Kay Kay.

The actor who prefers to keep a low profile isn’t even very active on social media. Ask him if his reserved nature ever becomes a hurdle for him in a promotion-driven industry like Bollywood, and he says, “I have always believed that my work will speak for itself. I’m anyway not a perfect human being, so why should I advertise myself?” Kay Kay feels that he would rather use his energy for “constructive purposes” than for creating a buzz about himself. “I would rather create some buzz for my film,” says the actor, however, admitting that social media does serve as a “good medium” for film promotions.

On the work front, the actor’s next is a period film, which is based on the arrival of the first mobile phone in India during the Emergency period. “It was fun to do a period film. It was interesting to explore the romanticism of that era,” says Kay Kay.
