ONGC chairman and managing director R.S. Sharma, Planning Commission member B.K. Chaturvedi, chairman and managing director of Indian Oil Corporation B.M. Bansal, President (International Operations), Reliance Industries Ltd Atul Chandra, Managing Director of Cairn India Rahul Dhir and Venu Rajamony, the joint secretary (Energy Security) will participate in the panel discussion on “Is India Moving Towards a Sustainable Energy Future.”

The discussion will centre around the paradigm of India’s energy security requires engagement with diverse geographical regions and political regimes.

India has only 0.5 per cent of the world’s total oil reserves and imports about 70 per cent of its total crude oil requirements. The import dependency is expected to increase to 90 per cent by 2025.

Given the continuing uncertainty with regard to supplies, energy security has emerged as a matter of concern for India.
