Tara was nabbed by central Indian agencies and the Thai police from the house of a man who was allegedly sheltering him at the behest of Pakistan’s ISI agency. Senior police officers of UT’s operation cell said that they were procuring the assassination case’s documents from the court that was trying it.

Tara’s arrest comes 10 years after he and three other prisoners made a daring escape from Chandigarh’s Burail jail by digging a tunnel. He was arrested in 1996 for allegedly planning the assassination.
