Ex Cong minister Krishna Gahlawat joins BJP

Former Haryana minister Krishna Gahlawat joined BJP in Delhi on Thursday. Krishna Gahlawat, 63, who hails from Sonepat, on Tuesday announced to quit the Congress party. Krishna had remained a cabinet minister from 1996 to 2000 in Haryana Vikas Party and was chairperson of social welfare advisory board from 1987 to 1992.

Former Haryana minister Krishna Gahlawat joined BJP in Delhi on Thursday.

Krishna Gahlawat, 63, who hails from Sonepat, on Tuesday announced to quit the Congress party. Krishna had remained a cabinet minister from 1996 to 2000 in Haryana Vikas Party and was chairperson of social welfare advisory board from 1987 to 1992.

She had unsuccessfully contested the assembly election from Kharkhodda constituency in 2005. She had earlier said that she got disillusioned with the Congress party over state of the country. Sources said that she was willing to contest parliamentary election from Sonepat on a Congress ticket, but the party was not ready to oblige her.
