Chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh has said that there is no ‘Modi wave’ in Punjab, and the Congress is confident of making a clean sweep in the state.

“In 2014 when there was Modi wave elsewhere in the country, Punjab voted against the SAD-BJP. And right now, there is no Modi wave. I am confident of a clean sweep as the BJP has no achievements to boast of; it’s in a state of complete regression and will be ousted from power,” said Amarinder.

He was replying to the media after the nomination filing of his wife and Congress’s Patiala candidate Preneet Kaur. Flanked by son Raninder Singh and daughter Jai Inder Kaur, Captain Amarinder said, “We will win for sure, we will win all the 13 seats, including Bathinda.”

The mood in Punjab is completely different as compared to 2014, he said, asserting that the Congress in the state will achieve Mission13.

The chief minister rejected the possibility of actor Sunny Deol posing any serious challenge to Sunil Jakhar in Gurdaspur. “Sunny Deol will run away to Bollywood and not be there for the people of Gurdaspur.”

On the question of AICC president campaigning in Punjab, the CM said Rahul Gandhi will definitely be around, but the dates and venues are yet to be decided.

Reacting to a media report that Sunil Jakhar was not kept in the loop about AAP MLA Nazar Singh Manshahia’s joining the Punjab Congress, the chief minister said all issues were discussed with the PPCC president. He categorically denied any differences on the issue with Jakhar.
