J&K becoming preferred destination for film industry, says LG Sinha
Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha announced that more than 300 movies were filmed in the region last year, making it a preferred destination for shooting films. Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan is currently filming a movie in the region, with his crew being spotted in Pulwama and Sonmarg. Sinha hopes that the increase in filmmakers coming to the region will help strengthen the economy and provide employment opportunities for locals. The governor also stated that they are expecting two crore tourists to visit Jammu and Kashmir this year.
As the tourist arrival has picked up, Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said 300 movies were filmed in Jammu and Kashmir last year and Kashmir is turning to be a preferred destination for shooting of films.

From past couple of days, Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan is shooting for a film in Kashmir. On Thursday, he along with his crew was in Pulwama district. Earlier, he was shooting at a tourist resort of Sonmarg.
Sinha told reporters that Shahrukh is also currently shooting in Kashmir.
“Last year, more than 300 movies were filmed in J&K. More film-makers coming to Jammu and Kashmir will strengthen the economy, provide employment and livelihood opportunities to locals and bring prosperity,” he said.
Sinha said the golden era of 80s film shooting is making a come back in Kashmir. “Jammu and Kashmir is again becoming a preferred shooting destination,” he said.
Earlier, Sinha said this time we are expecting arrival of two crore tourists in Jammu and Kashmir. “Last year, 1.88 crore tourists visited the UT and this year we will break our own record,” he said.
Sinha was in Bandipora on Thursday, where he inaugurated newly-constructed 224 residential transit accommodations for PM package employees at Odina.
He said sincere efforts are being made to provide residential accommodations to all employees by next year. On Wednesday, he had inaugurated transit accomodations in Baramulla.
