Following the owners’ failure to stop construction despite notices being served in the past, Ludhiana MC teams demolished an illegal shops on Circular road

Taking action against illegal constructions, the municipal corporation (MC) on Monday demolished eight shops at circular road.

The action was taken by MC teams after the owners failed to stop the illegal construction, despite notices being served in the past.

Officials faced resistance from Congress councillor Anil Parti and his supporters during the collection of composition fee (regularisation fee) for an illegal under construction building in Daresi area. The owner, however, eventually paid the fee.

Assistant town planner (ATP) Mohan Singh said the shops were being constructed at Circular road in violation of the building by-laws and the building inspector had also served notices to the owners in the past, but with the failure to stop the construction of shops, the MC team razed the under-construction buildings.

Singh added that FIRs will also be recommended against the owners if they restart the illegal construction at the site.
