Bhopal: Investors from across the country and abroad will take part in the two-day Global Investors Summit (GIS) being organised by the Madhya Pradesh government in Indore from Wednesday, an official statement said.

A total of 19 parallel sessions on a range of topics will be held during the summit on Wednesday and Thursday at the Brilliant Convention Centre in Indore, the government statement added.
“I will spend 18 hours each on both days with investors to bring as much investment as I can in Madhya Pradesh. I will meet with representatives of 314 companies,” said chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. “Many industrialists want to come back from China so we want to attract them towards MP.”
Sessions will be held on the topics of agriculture, food and dairy processing, pharmaceutical and health care, opportunities in natural gas and petro chemicals sector, renewable energy, information technology, tourism, logistics and warehousing, infrastructure development in urban areas, automobile and auto components, the statement said.
There will also be a special session on textiles and garments.
“The main focus will be on textile and garment because it will bring employment opportunities for women too,” said Chouhan. “Apart from this, we will also focus on investment by pharma, IT, tourism, auto mobile, agro-companies and others.”
An official from the state’s industry department said that on the second day of the summit, discussions will mainly revolve around opportunities in Madhya Pradesh.
“On the second day of the summit, there will be sessions on various topics of investment. The possibilities of exports from Madhya Pradesh, financial assistance for development of social infrastructure and joint investment between India and Israel, USA and the UAE group will be discussed,” said the official, requesting anonymity.
Sessions on contribution of Madhya Pradesh in India’s bid to become a $5 trillion economy, besides aerospace and defence will also be held. There will be discussion on startup-friendly environment in Madhya Pradesh, the official added.
The opposition Congress said the BJP government should focus on “real” investment. “The state government should focus on real investment and not on investment on papers. In the past one decade, many GIS were conducted just for inviting the investors,” said Congress legislator Jitu Patwari. “According to the reply by industry minister in the assembly, investment only worth ₹5,000 crore to ₹7,000 crore was received while ₹1,200 crore had been spent on travel expenses of the CM and other ministers.”
