Auraiya man gets death penalty for rape, murder of 8-yr-old girl

The home department officials said additional director general (ADG) of police, Kanpur Zone, Alok Singh has announced a reward of 25,000 for the team of police and prosecution for such swift and fast legal proceedings in the case.

Lucknow The Auraiya court on Wednesday awarded capital punishment to a man convicted for raping and murdering an eight-year-old girl. This conviction and sentence of the accused took place in a speedy manner in nearly three months after the incident was reported on March 25 earlier this year.

“The court observed that the act of the accused was more horrifying than the act of an animal. The court said the Indian culture revolved around women and such crimes were not acceptable in our society,” stated a press note shared by the home department on Wednesday.

The home department officials said additional director general (ADG) of police, Kanpur Zone, Alok Singh has announced a reward of 25,000 for the team of police and prosecution for such swift and fast legal proceedings in the case.

The press note said that the accused was identified as Gautam Singh Dohre (40) and he had raped the girl after luring her with the promise of eatables in a village under Ayana police station limits of Auraiya. The accused was under the influence of liquor and smothered the girl to death to conceal his identity as she would have easily identified him after the crime.

Earlier, the police had filed the charge-sheet against the accused within eight days after his arrest. The court had framed the charges against him under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 302 for murder, 376 for rape, 201 for concealment of crime as well as sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and convicted him on June 23. The special judge of POCSO court pronounced the punishment in the case on Wednesday.

Life term to rapist of 6-year-old girl in Etawah

In another incident of rape with a 6-year-old girl in Etawah, the local court on Tuesday awarded life imprisonment to man and slapped a penalty of 2lakh on him, said police officials here on Wednesday.

The accused was Amit Kumar alias Daboo, a resident of Badpura in Etawah.

According to the police, the accused had raped the girl after holding her captive at a deserted place in a field and left her bleeding profusely after the crime on May 2, 2022. The girl’s father had lodged the FIR under IPC sections 363 for kidnapping a minor, 376AB for rape with a girl below 12 years of age, 323 for voluntarily causing hurt and section 5/6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for aggravated penetrative sexual assault, after which the accused was arrested on the same day.

They said the police had filed the charge-sheet in the case on July 8, 2022, and the trial was started in the POCSO court of Etawah. “Due to effective prosecution of police and prosecution officers, the court convicted the accused and sentenced him to life imprisonment for his heinous act,” police officials said.
