THANE: A domestic dispute over a teenage daughter’s late-night outings turned fatal after a Badlapur man allegedly strangled his wife with a waist belt on Tuesday night.

The accused, Chandrakant Thorat, was arrested on Wednesday. Police said Thorat frequently argued with his wife, Ashwini Thorat, blaming her for their 17-year-old daughter’s habit of returning home late.

On Tuesday, the issue led to another heated argument after the girl came home late. Later that night, while the daughter was asleep, Thorat allegedly killed his wife in a fit of rage.

The accused was produced before a court on Wednesday and remanded to police custody for two days, police said.
