The injured were rushed to Bhavsinghji Hospital for urgent medical attention said A M Sharma, district collector and district election officer for Porbandar. He said the incident took place around 7 am at a place near Porbander where CAPF jawans of Manipur SRP are stationed a week ahead of the Gujarat polls.

“There was some heated argument when one of them started firing with an AK-47, killing one jawan on the spot. Another jawan died at the hospital. Two more were seriously injured and are being treated at a hospital in Jamnagar,” Sharma told Hindustan Times.

Sharma said the process to file a first information report (FIR) has been initiated and they are trying to find out the reason behind the incident.

According to police, two battalions of the Manipur SRP clashed with each other on Saturday when rifleman constable Inauncha Singh started firing randomly, killing two jawans and seriously injuring two others.

The conflict broke out between IRB jawans at the Cyclone Center in Tukda Gosa village of Porbandar district, about 15 kilometres from Porbandar where they were deployed for poll duty.
