‘Bomb’ threat mail leads to panic across Ahmedabad schools; police calls it ‘hoax’

Several prominent schools in Ahmedabad received bomb threat mails on Wednesday morning forcing immediate evacuations, police said.

The threats, sent via email, targetted several schools in the city including Zydus School in Vejalpur’s Jivraj Park area, Zebar School, Maharaja Agrasen School, Nirman School in Vastrapur and DAV International School at Makarba.
“We have received information that at least five to six schools in Ahmedabad have received bomb threats via emails. They seem to be a hoax,” joint police commissioner Sharad Singhal, Ahmedabad Crime Branch told HT.
He confirmed deployment of teams with thorough searches of school premises underway.
Authorities, including the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), Special Operations Group (SOG), fire brigade, and crime branch officials, conducted extensive checks using dog squads. Officials are tracing the origin of the emails.
