Asia Cup Oman Squad

Oman have announced a 17-member squad for their first-ever Asia Cup appearance, which includes four uncapped players in Sufyan Yousuf, Zikria Islam, Faisal Shah and Nadeem Khan. The team will be captained by experienced opener Jatinder Singh.

Placed in Group A, Oman will begin their Asia Cup campaign against Pakistan on September 12. They will then face the UAE on September 15 and India on September 19.

This will be Oman’s second outing in a major multi-nation tournament, following their appearance at the T20 World Cup last year. Their most recent international participation came in May at the Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 in Lauderhill, USA.

Head coach Duleep Mendis described the occasion as a special moment for Omani cricket. He said participating in the Asia Cup is a huge opportunity for the players to showcase their talent on a global stage. Facing strong teams like India and Pakistan, he noted, is a dream for any cricketer, especially in T20 cricket where a single over can change the entire game.

Mendis added that Oman’s preparations have been solid, with the ongoing National T20 tournament giving the players valuable match practice. He stressed that the team has been working hard in training, not just on skills but also on building the mental toughness needed to handle pressure against top sides. He expressed hope that Oman would make an impact in the competition and continue to show their growth as a cricketing nation.
