Wide! Ruben Trumpelmann starts with a wide ball. Short and way outside off, Jordan Hermann tries to slap it but misses. Wide called.

7:30 AM IST Right then, we are done with the prematch formalities. Namibia players take their respective field positions. Jordan Hermann and Connor Esterhuizen open up for South Africa. Ruben Trumpelmann has the new ball in hand and is raring to go. Let's play...
7:25 AM IST Time for the national anthems - We are moments away from the start of the game. Both sides, along with the match officials, stride out in the middle and line up for their respective national anthems. It will be the national anthem of Namibia's first, followed by the nation anthem of South Africa.
7:19 AM IST PITCH REPORT - There is a slight change in the playing surface, with the match being played on pitch number three from the eastern side. The square boundaries measure 69 metres on the eastern side and 71 metres on the western side, while both the northern and southern boundaries are 65 metres. With the previous match affected by rain delays, there is still plenty of moisture in the air. This pitch, however, has not been used for almost two months and carries a noticeably thicker natural grass cover with a slight green tinge. There should be plenty of runs on offer, but early wickets will be crucial. Namibia were unable to make early inroads in the previous ODI, allowing South Africa to make the most of the conditions and post a 300-plus total. With the sun beating down on a hard surface and plenty of grass on it, we could be in for another high-scoring contest.
7:38 AM IST Namibia (Playing XI) - Michael van Lingen (In for Alexander Volschenk), Malan Kruger, Jan Frylinck, Louren Steenkamp, Gerhard Erasmus (C), Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton (In for JJ Smit), Zane Green (WK), Jan Balt, Ruben Trumpelmann, Waldo Smith (In for Bernard Scholtz and On Debut), Jack Brassell.
7:38 AM IST South Africa (Playing XI) - Jordan Hermann, Connor Esterhuizen (WK), Tony de Zorzi, Matthew Breetzke (In for Jason Smith), Dewald Brevis, Jason Smith, Eathan Bosch (In for Corbin Bosch), Duan Jansen, Prenelan Subrayen (C), Nqabayomzi Peter (In for Bjorn Fortuin), Nqobani Mokoena (In for Kwena Maphaka).
7:11 AM IST The captain of South Africa - Prenelan Subrayen says that they don't mind batting first and they will just stick to their basics. Adds that the guys are full of confidence and they are up for the challenge. He ends by mentioning four changes on their side.
7:14 AM IST The captain of Namibia - Gerhard Erasmus says they opted to bowl first as chasing has been the preferred approach at the venue over the past 10 ODIs or so, adding that the side wanted to stay positive and play for a win. On the importance of making early breakthroughs, Erasmus notes that a strong opening partnership can make life difficult for the bowling side like we saw in the first game on what appeared to be a good batting surface. He says Namibia felt they could have had their opponents two or three wickets down inside the first 15 overs in the previous game but were unable to take their chances. Erasmus adds that they will look to put the ball in the right areas again and hopefully make early inroads this time. Informs they have made a few changes, with Waldo Smith set to make his debut, while Michael van Lingen and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton return to the side.
7:02 AM IST TOSS - Namibia have won the toss and will BOWL first.
6:38 AM IST Everything to play for under clearing skies - The surface at the Namibia Cricket Ground once again offers great value for authentic shots once batters spend time in the middle, though the morning conditions may provide some swing for the fast bowlers. Having dealt with rain interruptions in the previous fixture, both captains will factor in the overheads when deciding their plans. Can the home team produce a turnaround to force a series decider, or will South Africa run away with the trophy today? Stay tuned, the toss is coming up next.
6:36 AM IST Proteas eager to stay ruthless - South Africa will be delighted with Jordan Hermann and Tony de Zorzi setting the benchmark with the bat, but they know they cannot afford any slip in intensity. The middle order will want to be more clinical after a few soft dismissals previously, giving talents like Dewald Brevis and Connor Esterhuizen another chance to stamp their authority. With Kwena Maphaka firing with the new ball and Prenelan Subrayen controlling the middle overs, the bowling group will look to suffocate Namibia right from ball one.
6:34 AM IST Namibia searching for batting patience - The hosts must address their inability to sustain long innings after showing promising starts. Their key learning from the opening defeat is that individual cameos are not enough, so senior batters like Gerhard Erasmus and Jan Frylinck need to dig in and construct substantial partnerships. While Ruben Trumpelmann showed real threat with the ball, the rest of the bowling attack must show greater control to stop the opposition from breaking free in the middle overs.
6:29 AM IST Action shifts back to Windhoek - Hello and a warm welcome to the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek for the second ODI between Namibia and South Africa. The visitors hold a 1-0 lead after a dominant outing in the series opener, giving Bjorn Fortuin and his young squad an immediate shot at sealing the three-match series. For Namibia, this match is all about responding with determination on their home turf to level the score and keep the contest alive.
6:29 AM IST ... MATCH DAY ...
7:17 AM IST Series on the line - Namibia and South Africa lock horns in the 2nd ODI of this three match series and the visitors will be eyeing to take an unassailable lead heading into the final game. The Proteas enter the contest with considerable momentum after a commanding 99-run DLS victory in the opening ODI. Their 348/6 was built around a remarkable ODI debut from Jordan Hermann, while Namibia struggled to sustain a chase after rain reduced their target to 262 from 31 overs. For Namibia, however, the second game offers an immediate opportunity to respond. Their bowling attack showed flashes of quality in the opener, but their batting needs a substantial improvement if they are to challenge a South African side that contains considerable young talent and now has confidence behind it. The young Proteas show their class - South Africa's decision to use a youthful squad has already produced a spectacular return. Jordan Hermann was the headline act in the first ODI, smashing 150 from 126 balls, including 17 fours and three sixes. His innings equalled the record for the highest score by a batter on ODI debut, matching South African teammate Matthew Breetzke's 150 against New Zealand. He was supported brilliantly by Tony de Zorzi, who made 72 from 84 balls. The pair added 190 for the second wicket, providing the platform for South Africa to finish with a formidable 348/6. There were also late-innings contributions from Dewald Brevis and Corbin Bosch. Bosch's 39 came from only 24 balls, illustrating the batting depth available to South Africa even without several of their established stars. Namibia's inability to play the long game - Namibia's biggest problem in the opening match was not necessarily the reduced target, but their inability to build partnerships after a promising start. They reached 51/1 before wickets began to fall regularly. Malan Kruger top-scored with 34, while JJ Smit provided an aggressive 31 from only 20 balls. But no batter was able to convert a start into a substantial innings. Namibia eventually finished on 162/8 from 31 overs. Captain Gerhard Erasmus made 21, while the lower order was unable to provide the kind of resistance needed against South Africa's varied bowling attack. The challenge for Namibia in the second ODI is therefore clear - their top order needs to survive the new-ball phase and build a meaningful platform before attempting to accelerate. Players such as Jan Frylinck, Louren Steenkamp, Erasmus and JJ Smit will be crucial if the hosts are to put South Africa under pressure. Trumpelmann gives Namibia a bit of oomph - Despite the defeat, Ruben Trumpelmann was one of Namibia's standout performers. The left-arm seamer took 4/68 from his 10 overs, dismissing Hermann, Connor Esterhuizen, Rubin Hermann and Brevis. His ability to strike against a powerful South African batting order gives Namibia a genuine weapon for the second match. The challenge will be to complement those wickets with greater control. The bowling matched the batting - South Africa's bowling attack was equally impressive. Off-spinner Prenelan Subrayen produced the figures of the match with 4/29 from six overs, while young fast bowler Kwena Maphaka claimed 2/32. Duan Jansen also picked up a wicket and conceded only 13 runs from his six overs. Subrayen's spell was particularly important because Namibia's batting lineup struggled once he began taking wickets through the middle overs. For the second ODI, South Africa will hope their attack can once again combine pace and spin effectively. Maphaka's ability to generate pressure with the new ball and Subrayen's control in the middle overs could prove decisive. Pitch and conditions - The Namibia Cricket Ground has already shown that batting can be rewarding when players settle in. South Africa's 348 in the first ODI demonstrates the value of getting through the initial period and then exploiting the scoring opportunities later in the innings. The morning start could nevertheless give the seamers some assistance early on. Namibia will be particularly keen to make the most of that period because South Africa's batting lineup becomes increasingly dangerous once its top order settles. The first ODI was also significantly affected by rain, with Namibia's chase reduced to 31 overs. Weather interruptions remain a factor that both captains will have to consider, particularly when making the toss decision. Form (Last 5 completed ODIs, recent first) - NAM - LWWLW | SA - WLWLL. Predictions? South Africa start as clear favourites. The Proteas have the advantage in batting depth, bowling variety and confidence after winning the opening match by 99 runs. Hermann's spectacular debut has also added another dimension to a South African batting unit that already has several exciting young players. Namibia, though, should not be written off. Their bowlers showed they can take wickets, Trumpelmann has already made an impact, and playing at home gives them familiarity with the conditions. For Namibia to cause an upset, they probably need an exceptional opening spell followed by a major contribution from one of their top-order batters. Who are you backing for the win?
