England cricket fans present at The Oval on day three of their ongoing Test against South Africa had Moeen Ali as their target for banter, as they displayed a photograph of the all-rounder morphed into Leonardo da Vinci’s famous portrait of Mona Lisa. (DAY 4 HIGHLIGHTS)

Titled ‘The Moeena Lisa’, the England cricketer was shown in one of the historical pieces of art at The Oval, one of the oldest cricket venues which has joined the cricket grounds in Melbourne and Sydney to host as many as 100 Test matches.

While those on the ground saw the funnier side of it, a few on the internet expressed their strong dislike over the photograph which was on display. For many, it did not even come across as banter when England’s official social media accounts posted the photo.

The fans were quick to express their displeasure, especially on Facebook.

“No mate u can’t do this,,,, u can’t compare him with a girl, stupid things”, (sic) wrote MD Masum.

“no...that’s not good ,,,England Cricket supporters >_< !! u can’t do that to ur national heroes !! shame”, (sic) wrote Khan Majlish.

A person named Lynn Pope wrote, “I find this insulting and can’t quite believe that England Cricket posted it. :-( Totally disrespectful I hope Moeen Ali complains about it.”

However, Moeen Ali, who had seen this a long time ago, saw the lighter side of it all. In fact, Moeen retweeted ECB’s tweet on Saturday.
