India A vs England Lions Highlights, Day 1: India A took complete control on Day 1 with 409/3 at stumps, powered by a commanding 186* from Karun Nair and solid fifties from Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel. While Sarfaraz fell short of a well-deserved century at 92, Jurel remains unbeaten on 82 and will eye three figures on Day 2. From here, it's firmly India A's game to dictate. Karun Nair has notched up a brilliant century, strengthening his claim for a spot in India’s playing XI for the opening Test against England. Meanwhile, Sarfaraz Khan missed out on the ton and was dismissed for 92. Earlier, Sarfaraz Khan and Karun Nair completely owned the second session, heading back to the pavilion unbeaten on 92 and 91 respectively at Tea with India 227/2. They read the conditions smartly, settled in patiently, and are now confidently unleashing their strokes, asserting control over the hosts with authority. Sarfaraz Khan has brought up his half-century, making a strong statement to the selectors following his omission from the England Test series. Karun Nair also scored a well-crafted fifty off 84 deliveries and continues to look composed at the crease. India will be disappointed with the early dismissal of their openers—particularly Yashasvi Jaiswal, who appeared in good touch before gifting his wicket. I Jaiswal (24) threw his wicket away after getting well settled, while skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran failed to shine and was dismissed for just 8.

 India's preparation for the upcoming five-match Test series against England is all set to begin with preparatory contests between India A and England Lions. The two 'A' teams will face off in two first-class matches. Bengal opener Abhimanyu Easwaran is the captain of India A while Dhruv Jurel will serve as his deputy. 

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Karun Nair, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Shardul Thakur are all part of the senior squad for the Tests against England. Hence, they would want to get some much-needed game time to prepare to the best of their ability.

Sarfaraz Khan, who has been dropped from India's main squad, will look to prove the selectors wrong by scoring runs against the England Lions and making a case for his late inclusion in the squad. Ishan Kishan, Khaleel Ahmed, and Anshul Kamboj are also part of the team that will take on the England Lions. 

With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retiring from Tests, youngsters have a chance to step up and show their talent on the biggest stage possible. The biggest question remains who will take Virat's position at No.4. Karun Nair will be vying for a spot at No.4 hence the matches between India A and England Lions become all the more crucial for him. 

Somerset’s James Rew will lead the England Lions for the first time. The initial 15-player Lions squad also includes Chris Woakes, who is making a return to competitive cricket after an ankle injury.

After the two first-class matches against England Lions, India A will also take on the main Indian team in an intra-squad game before the first Test against England in Headingley.
