Virat Kohli endured yet another failure as he was out for 11 in the second session. But it was Pant who rebuilt the Indian innings, hitting 20 fours and four sixes en route to 146.

While Pant was his free-flowing self, Jadeja was more measured. But the spotlight will on the all-rounder on second day. He reached unbeaten 83 to keep the scoreboard ticking even after Pant's exit.

It was a hundred of rare belligerence with a mixture of audacity and responsibility! Pant came in at No. 5 ahead of Shreyas Iyer and made a very strong case to enter the eleven as a pure batter too! 

Pant scored 146 off 111 at a strike rate of over 131, while Jadeja played the perfect second fiddle, hitting unbeaten 83 off 163 balls. Who would have thought India reaching 338 after early blows!

73 overs are gone and it's the end of first day's play! India finish on 338/7 with Jadeja (83 not out) and Shami (0*) in the middle. An incredible turnaround after the first session!

Overthrows and it goes all the way! A scrappy end to what's been a lacklustre day for the hosts. Five runs to Jadeja, who moves into the 80s.

The partnership is India's highest sixth wicket stand against England, surpassing 204 between KL Rahul and Pant at the Oval in 2018.

An off-spinner bowling a bouncer... where did that come from! Root dishes out a short one but Pant somehow manages to hit it away to the fine leg boundary. The partnership between Pant and Jadeja is over 200 now.

Fours continue to flow at Edgbaston under the evening sun! Rishabh Pant is now piercing the gaps with ease. Leach's economy rate is soaring over seven over Pant hits a four and six on consecutive deliveries. The Indian sweeps it to square leg and then hits it straight over the bowler's head.

Pant's ton, however, is the fastest by an Indian WK in the longest format. MS Dhoni had scored hundred off 93 balls versus Pakistan.

Jadeja joins the fun! He gets to his 50, playing the perfect second fiddle. Pant and Jadeja have added over 150 now.
