00:31 hrs IST: That’s it. Thank you for joining us. Until next time, it’s goodbye. Cheers!

Jasprit Bumrah: “Clarity is very important when you bowl at the death otherwise there’ll be doubt. If I’m clear, it’s easy to execute. It doesn’t change at the last moment [the plan when I’m running in]. Even on a bad day when a batsman hits you, you just have to execute your plan. [KLR] has been batting really well so it’s sometimes difficult to bowl to a batsman like that. But I was backing myself. I was clear and it was a good day and it worked.”

Rohit Sharma: “Feels good. Was an important game for us. As simple as that, if we wanted to stay alive. We played a perfect game. Whatever was asked, the boys delivered. It’s never been easy for us - the last few years actually! We knew it was a good pitch and it was going to be a high-scoring game. But we lost the plot in the middle, could have 15-20 more runs. We always knew it was going to be tough for the bowlers to defend against a solid line-up. Hats off to them. Pollard has always been a match winner for us. Leaving him out was always a tough decision.”

R Ashwin: “Pretty blank at this point of time. We were in the chase all along, it was a professional batting performance. Just didn’t work out in the end. It looked it was going to be a clinical romp but credit to Bumrah - once again proved what a good bowler he is. Today was one of those days where he had to cap off a victory and do it for ourselves, now we need to depend on some luck. We were very abstract about our performance last match and spoke about our best batsmen taking it deep. Credit to Rahul and Finch. It’s very difficult to say what Rahul has done right or wrong - he’s hardly mistimed a ball this season.”

00:08 hrs IST: And that’s it. McClenaghan keeps his cool as Mumbai Indians defeat Kings XI Punjab by three runs and keep their hopes alive for a spot in the play-offs.

00:01 hrs IST: McClenaghan to bowl the final over. Kings XI Punjab need 17 off 6.

23:55 hrs IST: OUT! Bumrah gets the big fish. KL Rahul goes for a well-made 94(60). Looks tough for Kings XI now. Yuvraj Singh comes to the crease. He has found the going tough so far in the tournament.

23:36 hrs IST: Consecutive sixes from Rahul. The partnership between both batsmen is 100 now. Kings XI Punjab are 145/1 after 16 overs, need 42 off 24.

23:30 hrs IST: Superb from Hardik Pandya, gives away only six runs. Ends his spell with figures of 0/42. Kings XI Punjab are 127/1 after 15 overs, need 60 off 30.

23:05 hrs IST: Fifty partnership between Rahul and Finch. If both of them stay till the 15th over, Kings XI will not find it difficult to seal the deal. They are 86/1 after 10 overs, need 101 off 60. Krunal again.

22:27 hrs IST: Tidy over from Bumrah, only one run off it. Mumbai Indians need more of these. Kings XI Punjab are 9/0 after 2 overs. Hardik Pandya comes into the attack.

22:22 hrs IST: SIX! Short ball from McClenaghan, Rahul looks to play the pull shot but gets a top edge over the wicket-keeper. Kings XI Punjab are 8/0 after the first over. Jasprit Bumrah comes into the attack.

22:19 hrs IST: Time for Kings XI’s chase. KL Rahul to take strike. Mitchell McClenaghan to bowl the first over.

22:03 hrs IST: That’s it. Mumbai Indians finish for 186/8. Good total but dew could play a part at some stage. Great innings from Pollard. Only one word for Tye - outstanding! We’ll be back in a few minutes time.

21:55 hrs IST: Tye gets Hardik Pandya, ends with figures of 4/16. Mumbai Indians are 175/8 after 19 overs. Mohit Sharma to bowl the final over.

21:50 hrs IST: WICKET! Ashwin strikes again, removes Cutting. Has been a good day on the field for the Kings XI skipper. Most likely he will bowl the final over. Mumbai Indians are 167/7 after 18 overs. Tye to bowl the penultimate over.

21:46 hrs IST: Stupendous over from Tye, only three runs off it. Mumbai Indians are 157/6 after 17 overs. Ashwin again.

21:40 hrs IST: OUT! And Ashwin gets his man. Pollard departs for a 23-ball fifty. Wanted to hit a flighted delivery (wide outside off) over long-off but didn’t time it well and Aaron Finch completed a neat catch. Ben Cutting is at the crease. Mumbai Indians are 154/6 after 16 overs. Tye comes back into the attack.

21:34 hrs IST: Kieron Pollard hits Stoinis for a six to complete his fifty. Magnificent innings from the Windies all-rounder. Mumbai Indians 151/5 in 15 overs.

21:30 hrs IST: OUT! Krunal c Rajpoot b Stoinis 32(23). Good innings from the elder Pandya. Time for his younger brother to smack a few out of the park. Mumbai Indians 136/5 (14.2 overs).

21:25 hrs IST: This is turning out to an excellent phase for the hosts. Pollard takes Rajpoot to the cleaners. The pacer finishes with figures of 1/46. Mumbai Indians are 134/4 after 14 overs. Stoinis again.

21:18 hrs IST: SIX! Touch short from Axar, Pollard rocks back and creams it over mid-wicket for a maximum. Mumbai Indians are 116/4 after 13 overs. Both batsmen should look to stay till the end. Rajpoot to bowl his final over.

21:15 hrs IST: Just the over Mumbai Indians would have wanted. Nineteen runs off it. Krunal Pandya smacks two maximums and a boundary off Stoinis. Can MI get past 180? They are 104/4 after 12 overs. Axar to continue.

21:10 hrs IST: Another great over from Axar, just six runs. No margin for error. Mumbai Indians are 85/4 after 11 overs. Pollard 11*, Krunal 8*. Stoinis to continue.

21:08 hrs IST: And we are back. Axar Patel is back into the attack. Pollard on strike.

20:58 hrs IST: There’s a floodlight issue at the ground. There will be a delay here. We will keep you posted.

20:56 hrs IST: FOUR! Short and wide from Stoinis and Pollard punches it through cover for his first boundary. Takes a single off the last ball. Mumbai Indians are 79/4 after 10 overs.

20:18 hrs IST: OUT! Tye strikes, gets the better of Lewis. Knuckleball, the West Indian looks to drive but misses as the ball moves a bit in to hit his stumps. Wicket no 21 for the Australian in the tournament. Ishan Kishan is the new batsman.

20:15 hrs IST: SK Yadav on fire! Smashes two sixes off Rajpoot, one was a top edge over the fine leg boundary while the other was a lofted shot over mid-off. Two fours and a single make it a really good for Mumbai Indians, who are 37/0 after 3 overs. Andrew Tye comes into the attack.

18:55 hrs IST: Hello and welcome to HT’s live coverage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 match between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab at the Wankhede Stadium.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman, KXIP’s find of the season could miss the rest of the IPL with a finger injury he suffered against KKR.

Apart from openers KL Rahul and Chris Gayle, none of the KXIP batsmen have made a meaningful contribution in this year’s IPL and it could be time for them to stand up and be counted.

In the 21 matches played between the two teams in Indian Premier League, Mumbai Indians have a slight edge having won 11 compared to 10 won by Kings Xi Punjab.
