IPL 2022 RCB vs MI Highlights: Rawat, Kohli power Bangalore to seven-wicket win; Mumbai suffer 4th consecutive defeat

RCB's batting unit will also receive a big boost in the form of Glenn Maxwell, who is available for selection against Mumbai.

Talking about Royal Challengers Bangalore, the spotlight will be on Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli. Du Plessis has looked in good touch but Kohli needs to get back to runs. Will be a bit odd to not see Rohit and Kohli at the toss.

South African youngster Dewald Brevis, labelled as 'Baby AB', will also look to leave his mark. Tilak Varma has already shone in MI colours with scores of 22, 61, 38 in the last three games.

Suryakumar will be playing his 200th T20 game today. Also, Rohit is just 51 runs away from a huge batting milestone. He will become the seventh batter to reach the landmark of 10,000 T20 runs.

With scores of 81, 54, and 14, Ishan Kishan has been a revelation at the top. But Mumbai Indians will expect some runs from skipper Rohit, who is yet to score a substantial knock. He has managed 41, 10 and 3 in the first three games.

Suryakumar Yadav has got an impressive record at the venue. In four games at the MCA Stadium, the talented batter has notched up 179 runs at 44.75 including two half-centuries. His batting record against Bangalore is also decent. In 14 innings, he has scored 259 runs at an average of 25.90. He had also scored an unbeaten 79 when the two sides met in the UAE in 2020.

They have endured a torrid start and Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene also admitted that the team needs to be ruthless to turn things around. "We were in the game pretty much all the way but then in the last few games we have not been ruthless enough to close games off," Jayawardene said after his team lost three games in a row.

"It's always tough when you have a start like this but we need to look at the positives. We are playing some good cricket but it's just that we are not closing games off. All three games we were in it but we were not able to finish it off."

With three consecutive defeats, Mumbai Indians currently stand at the 9th spot on the points table. They will hope for an improved bowling performance tonight. They were hammered by Lalit Yadav-Axar Patel in the game against Delhi Capitals while Pat Cummins' blitz blew Mumbai away in their last match against Kolkata.

"We seriously cannot be blaming individuals here. It's all of us. We win together, we lose together. That is as simple as that for me.

"I think slight desperation is required from each one of us. That desperation is very, very, very important when we play, especially in this tournament," skipper Rohit Sharma said to his team in a video shared by Mumbai Indians.

We have seen some individual brilliance from Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma. Suryakumar's return has also added depth to the batting unit. But Mumbai Indians need a collective effort against a formidable Bangalore camp.

While the batting looks sorted to some extent, Mumbai Indians need their bowlers to deliver. Even Jasprit Bumrah went for runs against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Cummins also hit the joint-fastest fifty in IPL history.
