Kane Williamson continued his consistent run for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as he scored his fifth half-century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Hyderabad on Monday. (SRH v RCB UPDATES)
The SRH brought up the half-century in 35 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes. The innings was nothing flashy but did the job for SRH under pressure. (SRH v RCB SCORECARD)
Williamson came onto the pitch after opener Alex Hales (5) had departed in the third over. He got off the mark with four off Tim Southee but had to put on brakes with wickets falling at the other end.
After Shikhar Dhawan (13) and Manish Pandey (5) departed inside the first 10 overs, Williamson stitched a patient stand with Shakib Al Hasan.
After four boundary-less overs, the Kiwi star finally broke the shackles in the 11th over as he pulled Yuzvendra Chahal’s short delivery for a four. He even survived a string stumping appeal from Chahal and continued to build the innings.
On a slow wicket with variable bounce, he used the glance shot to full effect. Williamson reached his 40s with a four and the match’s first six off Umesh Yadav in the 14th over.
In the very next over, he hit another six off Chahal and then took a single to complete his half-century.
Williamson was dismissed for a 56 as SRH posted 146 and the hosts went on to win by five runs in a low-scoring thriller.
