In a written statement released to the media, Illyas had questioned Jakhrani's ability to keep the affairs of the PCB transparent and also opposed the Sports Ministry's growing involvement with the board.

"The decision to remove Jakhrani from the Health Ministry was ordered after reports of massive corruption began to surface. If he could not control corruption in that department how can he handle the PCB," Illyas had said in his statement.

The outburst by Illyas has drawn a strong response from the Sports Ministry, who have asked Butt in writing to take immediate disciplinary action against the selector under the rules and regulations of the board.

The Ministry has also expressed surprise how the board can allow a paid national selector to make such statements in the media without facing any disciplinary action.

"The remarks against the honorable Sports Minister are unbearable and tantamount to insubordination according to them organisation rules," the Ministry wrote to Butt.
