Dushan Hemantha

Dushan Hemantha is a right-handed batting all-rounder who bowls leg-spin. He came through Sri Lanka's domestic circuit, making his First-Class and T20 debuts for Colts Cricket Club in early 2014 before making his List A debut for Saracens Sports Club later that year. Over the years, he has represented several major domestic sides, including Panadura Sports Club, Badureliya Sports Club, and Police Sports Club.

Hemantha established himself as a frontline wicket-taker across formats, boasting career-best figures of 7/62 in First-Class cricket and 6/28 in List A cricket. His consistent performances for Sri Lanka A and Sri Lanka Emerging teams further solidified his standing as one of the country’s leading wrist-spin options.

He made his senior international debut in an ODI against Afghanistan in 2023, featuring in Sri Lanka's campaign during the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe that same year. He went on to make his T20I debut against Zimbabwe in 2025.

Hemantha's biggest international opportunity came at the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, where he was called into Sri Lanka's main squad as an official replacement for the injured Wanindu Hasaranga. He made an immediate impact during the tournament, recording a career-best T20I spell of 3/37 against Australia. Continuing to feature regularly in both international cricket and the Lanka Premier League (LPL), Hemantha was named in Sri Lanka's 15-member squad for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan.
