'Rohit Sharma hasn't been consistent at all': Australia great drops bombshell statement on MI skipper amid IPL 2023
The former Australian star has issued a bold statement against MI skipper Rohit Sharma amid the IPL 2023.
There is no denying that Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has struggled to score runs in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The talismanic leader of the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise has only smashed a single half-century in the IPL 2023. Under Rohit's leadership, it is highly unlikely that the injury-ridden Mumbai Indians side will secure their berth for the playoff stage of the cash-rich league this season.

Rohit's Mumbai Paltan is placed eighth on the 10-team points table. The five-time champions have suffered four defeats in their first seven matches this season. Sharing his views about Rohit's recent dip in form, former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson claimed that the MI skipper has been an inconsistent performer for several seasons in the world's richest T20 league.
"It is a huge challenge to manage your mental energy. International cricketers around the world do play a lot of cricket, but Indian cricketers play it non-stop all year round. With Rohit Sharma now being captain of India now as well, it's even more on his plate. If he is a bit mentally fatigued, you can see why. When it comes to Rohit Sharma, we have seen him at his best, but in the last four or five years of the IPL, he hasn't been very consistent at all. It is hard to get your head around it because he is such a gun batter when he is going, taking on all the best bowlers in the world in all different conditions," Watson told The Grade Cricketer on YouTube.
MI skipper Rohit has amassed 181 runs in 7 matches at the IPL 2023. Averaging 25.86, Rohit was dismissed for cheap in MI's away game against defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The MI skipper was removed by GT skipper Hardik Pandya for 2 off 8 balls in the second over. Shubman Gill's brilliant half-century and David Miller's entertaining knock of 46 off 22 balls guided GT to an impressive 55 run-win over Mumbai Indians in match No.35 of the IPL 2023 at Ahmedabad. Rohit's Mumbai Indians will host Rajasthan Royals in match No. 42 of the IPL 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
