The man, Deepak kumar, managed to recover Rs 900 cash. He was given a commendation letter on Monday by the Delhi police for his bravery.

A tiffin supplier — who was allegedly robbed of his mobile phone and cash by two men — chased the assailants until he managed to catch one of them with the help of a police constable in South Campus area on Sunday afternoon.

The man, Deepak kumar, managed to recover Rs 900 cash. He was given a commendation letter on Monday by the Delhi police for his bravery.

According to DCP (southwest), Devender Arya, the man who was caught, identified as one Pradeep (19), turned out to be a vagabond with at least 20 cases of robbery, burglary, snatching and theft.

Police said that on Sunday afternoon, Deepak was on his way to Satya Niketan when he stopped near a jungle to relieve himself, the DCP said. When he came out, two men allegedly approached him from behind and snatched his phone and cash.

Deepak gave chase and caught up with them. “But when he tried to nab them, he fell and injured his head. He continued to raise an alarm, drawing the attention of constable Rajender on patrol duty in the area. The constable caught Pradeep but the other robber escaped,” the DCP said.
