Strengthening its private bus service further, the transport department has deployed 24 buses on a new route.

A Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) official said the new buses would ply on route number 901, which connects Kamla market in central Delhi to Mangolpuri Y-Block in northwest Delhi. DIMTS is implementing the bus cluster scheme for the Delhi government's transport department.
With this route, the total number of routes to be made operational under the cluster scheme has reached 10. DIMTS officials said almost 200 orange-coloured low-floor and semi low-floor buses ply on these routes, which connect south and west Delhi with the rest of the city.
The transport department has divided 652 DTC bus routes in 17 clusters. Buses of various private companies will ply their buses in these clusters. The transport department has so far made four bus clusters operational — all partially — while the process to appoint one private bus operator in each of the remaining clusters is on.
“The frequency and punctuality of buses have considerably improved on the routes where private operators are operational. The bus cluster scheme has helped strengthening public transport system in the Capital,” said a senior DIMTS official.
