Court allows Kalmadi to attend London Games

However, the sports ministry shot a letter to the Indian Olympic Association requesting them not to facilitate the tainted official's trip to London.

Special Judge Talwant Singh permitted Kalmadi to go to the United Kingdom from July 26 to August 13 saying, “Accused number 1 (Kalmadi) is a member of athletic’s Asian as well world bodies, and arguments on charge on his behalf are already over….accordingly, the application is allowed.”

In a letter to IOA secretary general Randhir Singh, the ministry argued that since Kalmadi is embroiled in corruption cases, IOA should not support Kalmadi in any way.

Sports minister Ajay Maken on Friday said that he will ensure that Kalmadi is not part of the Indian delegation.
