'Decision to induct Azhar in Congress soon'

The Congress party said that a decision would soon be taken on inducting former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin into the party.

The Congress party Saturday said that a decision would soon be taken on inducting former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin into the party.

"Azharuddin met Congress president Sonia Gandhi and other senior party leaders recently and expressed a desire to join the Congress party. He has been a great cricketer and we are likely to take a decision to induct him in the party soon," said M Veerappa Moily, All India Congress Committee incharge of Andhra Pradesh.

Congress sources said Azhar would soon be joining the party and may be fielded from the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency in Andhra Pradesh.
