DU student, boyfriend burgle uncle’s house

Delhi Police have arrested a 21-year-old Delhi University student and her boyfriend for committing burglary at her uncle’s house in Central Delhi’s Gandhi market. Police said the girl, Shruti Khosla, wanted to help her boyfriend, who is financially unstable.

“During interrogation, Khosla told us that she wanted to help her boyfriend – Rohit, a BSES employee. Her boyfriend’s financial condition is not good and he has three unmarried sisters. She along with Rohit and the uncle’s servant, Pradeep, hatched a conspiracy to burgle the house of Rajesh Puri,” said Devesh Chandra Srivastva, additional CP (central).

The theft was committed on Sunday, when Puri had gone to Ambala. That night Pradeep and Rohit cut the wire mess of the door, broke open the ventilator and entered the house. “They stole jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh, cash of Rs 10 lakh, a laptop and other silver ornaments,” Srivastva added.

During investigation it was found that Puri’s house could not be accessed except through the stairs or the terrace of the adjoining house — where his sister-in-law lives.

Puri had raised some suspicion over the activities of his sister-in-law’s daughter Shruti. She is pursuing a correspondence course in BCom from Delhi University.

She also works at a private company at Gurgaon.

This is the second incident of a girl committing burglary with the help of her boyfriend. Puri’s father, mother and son were present at the house. He received the call about the burglary through his brother at Ambala and immediately came back to Delhi.
