A day after a 23-year-old former air hostess hung herself, and blamed the head of MDLR group and former Haryana minister Gopal Goyal Kanda of harassing her in the suicide note, Delhi Police were handed over a series of emails by the victim’s family on Monday.

Police said they would first collect evidence against Kanda and then arrest him.

Geetika Sharma was found hanging at her Ashok Vihar residence on Sunday morning.

Emails by Kanda to Geetika’s employer
The victim’s family has produced a series of emails, one of them reportedly sent by a Gurgaon Police inspector to Emirates, which were allegedly sent to Geetika to harass her.
In one email, the ‘authorities in Dubai’ purportedly threatened to extradite her as a case of cheating was registered against Geetika in Dubai. The family claimed that there was no such case and Kanda used his contacts to send these mails to force Geetika to join his company again.
“When Geetika was working with Emirates, Kanda had sent an email in the name of a Gurgaon SHO. He used to call her and ask her to join MDLR again. He said he would frame her and her family in a fake case,” said Anuradha Sharma, victim’s mother.
The police will rope in cyber experts to check the authenticity of these mails. Senior officers, however, confirmed that no case was registered against Geetika in Dubai.

Kanda ‘threatened her’ before suicide
Geetika returned from Mumbai on Saturday after attending her brother, Ankit Sharma’s fashion show. Ankit said that Geetika had been upset since 8 pm on Saturday, when a legal advisor of MDLR group had called her up.
According to Geetika’s mother, she had called Kanda at 10 pm, but he did not pick up. “Later, he called me and I asked him why he was harassing my daughter. He said he would get an FIR registered against us if we didn’t send Geetika to his office,” she said.
Ankit spoke to Geetika at 12.45 am and found that she was in a bad mood. “I told her not to worry. Her last words were ‘take care of yourself’,” said Ankit.

Kanda-sharma family close
Photos released by Geetika’s parents suggest that both families used to visit each other often. Geetika’s brother said that Kanda had gone to Mumbai with his family members and they had also visited Shirdi together. Geetika’s mother said that money for admission in an MBA institute was also paid by Kanda.

Police investigation:
Police seized Geetika’s laptop, her i-phone and other documents from their Ashok Vihar residence. A medical board was constituted to conduct the post mortem examination.
MDLR’s legal advisor, Ankit Ahluwalia, and Aruna Chadha, who was also named in the FIR, have been summoned for questioning on Tuesday.
